Description

TMQ belongs to the group of antioxidants that prevent oxidation.

This product is amber (light brown) in color and is supplied in granular form. It is soluble in benzene, carbon disulfide, acetone, and chloroform; slightly soluble in petroleum hydrocarbons; and insoluble in water.

TMQ is a very stable antioxidant and has little effect on the vulcanization process. It is widely used as a rubber additive due to its low discoloration and non-staining properties during contact.

Using TMQ together with 6PPD in rubber products improves resistance to aging at high temperatures.

This material, also known by its IUPAC name 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,2-dihydroquinoline, is a low-molecular-weight polymer with high stability. It should be stored in sealed containers, away from strong oxidizing agents, in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place.
